What is an essential oil
Only organically grown products are used to gain an essential oil. The production itself occurs by means of distillation (steam) and without any artificial or chemical additives. Essential oils have been used in medicine and healing processes for thousands of years. Despite access nowadays to modern pharmaceuticals, the oils remain indispensable. The production of essential oils in France is subject to strict supervision. Only registered laboratories and pharmacists have the right to blend two or more essential oils.
Olive Oil
We use Olive oil as the base oil so as to avoid common allergies towards kernel oils such as peanuts, almonds and sesame. In addition, Olive oil provide an immune system boost because of its anti-inflammatory properties and is a good source of antioxidant properties.
Olive oil is one of the richest plant sources of Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). MUFAs are especially beneficial for the heart and may help protect against certain chronic diseases such as cardiovascular illnesses and diabetes. Chronic inflammation is thought to be a leading driver of diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, arthritis and even obesity.
Olive oil is also loaded with powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants and anti-aging go hand-in-hand hence they are a key source from dietary supplements to cosmetics for their ability to neutralize damaging free radicals and slow the aging process.
Lavender
Lavender is a wild plant that grows in Mediterranean regions and in France, and is grown and produced elsewhere throughout the world. There are several species of lavender, depending on whether it grows in low-lying areas or in Alpine regions. The most famous region for lavender production is Provence in southern France.
Lavender is one of the most widely used herbs. Traditionally, Lavender is renowned for its soothing effect and has been used to treat anxiety, insomnia, depression, convulsion, pain, and cerebrovascular diseases. Lavender oil helps calm the nervous system hence lowering blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature as well as changing brain waves to a more relaxed state which makes it a popular means to help people to sleep.
Lavender oil is anti-inflammatory and has an anti-septic effect in the respiratory tracts.
It is also used as a cure for colds, sinusitis and throat infections. The antioxidant effects of lavender helps protect against oxidative stress in the brain. These same effects also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines when applied to the skin.
